Enjoy Happy Hour with Street-Style Japanese Dishes at 102 Izakaya

Looking for a chill spot in Makati to hang out after work or during lunch hours? I just discovered this new Izakaya along the busy street of Valero!

Second Floor, ACCM Building, 102 Valero Street, Salcedo Village, Makati City 1209

What is an Izakaya?

“An Izakaya is a Japanese-style pub. This means that you will have alcohol as well as food, but instead of everyone receiving their own main dish, the standard procedure is for everyone to order lots of small, typically inexpensive dishes that are shared by everyone around the table, ordering subsequent rounds along with accompanying drinks.”

The Food

This modern, hip vibe for a Japanese pub makes 102 Izakaya one of the go-to places for good food and booze in Makati city. The menu is prepared by partner chef – Chef Edo San, former Executive Chef of Sakura in Balesin Island and current Senior Sous Chef in Okada Manila. It has the traditional Japanese Izakaya food, lunch sets and yakitori. Here are my faves:

Edo San Special

Edo San Special – The top layer of anago (salt water eel), middle layer of crab stick, ebiko and cream cheese wrapped in Japanese rice and sea weed, topped with shrimp make this huge piece of a maki deserving to be eaten in ONE bite! Take the challenge, I tell you, all those flavors were a party in my mouth! It was SO GOOD!

Beef Usuyaki

Beef Usuyaki – rolled beef stuffed with shiitake mushroom and bacon. Super flavorful and this is one of their best sellers!

Salmon aburi sushi

Salmon Aburi Sushi – flame torched salmon sushi but still melt-in-your mouth good!

Chicken Teppanyaki

Chicken Teppanyaki – one of the best versions I’ve had. What made it different is their house-made mayo dressing, it’s delicious! The chicken was tender and perfectly cooked as well.

Buta Kakuni

Buta Kakuni – soft, tasty, braised pork belly with mashed potato and boiled eggs on the side.

Kushikatsu

Kushikatsu – deep-fried skewered beef, pork, chicken, shrimp and vegetable. Fun, yummy sticks you can share and pair with alcoholic drinks.

Other dishes served:

Whether it’s for celebrating a long and stressful week or just a simple “food trip”, visit the 102 Izakaya at the 2nd floor of ACCM Building along Valero st. Makati and experience true Izakaya feels!
