The Ultimate Throwback Arcade Cafe

I just discovered another family-friendly, kid-friendly, and ig-worthy cafe in the south! If you’re a child of the 80’s, this ultimate throwback arcade cafe is a must-try!

4th floor Madison Galeries Lifestyle Mall

I had lunch there with fellow foodies a few days ago thanks to an invite from Zomato PH. I arrived early and eagerly checked what this fun place has to offer. Coffee was the first order of business. If you’re a fan of latte art, ask the barista and they’ll whip up something cute for you and for “the gram”.😉

When everyone was settled, the food started to arrive. We got to enjoy a variety of Fil-American dishes:

Ratatouille Pasta

Ratatouille Pasta – I never knew this pasta version of a vegetable stew would taste so good. Aside from the chopped veggies, they included bits of sardines that added more flavor. Yum!

Donkey Kong Pork Barrel

Donkey Kong Pork Barrel – oh that crispy skin and super soft meat plus the sauce was heaven! Sinfully good, I must say!

Bowzer Adobo BBQ Ribs

Bowzer Adobo BBQ Ribs – fall off the bone goodness! They serve it as ala carte, half slab or whole slab.

Derive Signature Burger

Derive Signature Burger – served with truffled curly fries, this comes in pink or blue buns, the patty and melted cheese with onions were just okay for me.

Stuck in the Cheese Caldereta Nachos, Pickup Pops and Truffled Curly Fries

Pickup Pops – soft, honey mustard chicken lollipops. I’m sure the kids will love this.

Stuck in the Cheese Caldereta Nachos – I’m very particular with nachos and this one hits the spot! Who would’ve thought caldereta sauce would make a good nacho dressing?

Arcade sodas

Arcade Sodas – These colorful blends make fun and delicious drinks that kids (and kids-at-heart) will surely enjoy. Choose from 6 flavors: Luigi Arcade Soda, Roadberry Runner Blueberry Pomegranate, Sylvester Black, Sunset Peach, Marshall Jhay Lime, and Mario Rasberry. The lime flavor was my fave!

With Bryan Sy, co-owner/partner

Bryan Sy, co-owner/partner of the cafe explained how he, along with his partners in the business – Ivy Jimenez and Icio Briones, came up with the theme of this cafe: “Derive” means to base a concept on, and in this case – the theme is derived from the 80’s.

There’s a room full of arcade games with hundreds of the classic favorites such as Pacman, Donkey Kong, Contra and Bomberman, just 5 pesos to play any game you want! The kid in me rejoiced at the sound of the Battle City’s intro music! They also have the classic board and table games, as well as a private function room for karaoke.
